On October 4th, 2018, we posted a blog containing information about the IRSโ€™ updated Forms 1094 and 1095.ย  The IRS has now extended the deadline for furnishing Forms 1095-B and 1095-C to individuals; the extension runs to March 4th, 2019.ย  This extends the previous deadline of January 31, 2019 by nine weeks. The IRS requires insurers, self-insuring employers and certain other providers who provide minimum essential coverage, (as well as applicable large employers) to file these information-reporting forms annually.ย  Form 1095-B addresses Health Coverage information and Form 1095-C addresses Employer-Provided Health Insurance Office and Coverage information. Both forms are furnished not only to the IRS but also to the individual. ย If you are required to file these forms, the IRS advises to file as soon as possible, as filing after the deadline may trigger penalties.
