Annual enrollment is one of the most important moments of the year for employers and employees alike.

For employees, enrollmnent is a chance to make decisions that impact their health, finances, and families for the year ahead.

For employers, open enrollment is one of the most visible moments in the employee experience. It’s far more than an administrative process. Every interaction shapes trust, influences engagement, and reflects the value of their benefits investment.

It’s also one of the busiest and most complex periods of the year.

At Businessolver, we often refer to annual enrollment as our Super Bowl because it’s the moment when preparation, technology, service, and execution all come together. Success during enrollment doesn’t happen by accident. It requires months of planning, continuous improvement, and a commitment to learning from every enrollment season.

As enrollment season approaches, our teams across product, operations, service, implementation, client management, and technology are focused on a single goal: helping clients deliver an enrollment experience employees can navigate with confidence.

The biggest enrollment challenge isn’t always what you think

When many people think about annual enrollment readiness, they think about staffing plans, call volume forecasts, or technical performance.

Those things matter. But when we examined employee interactions, we found something important: many enrollment questions weren’t driven by technical issues. They were driven by uncertainty.

Employees often want reassurance.

  • Did I enroll correctly?
  • Did my elections save?
  • What happens next?
  • Am I missing anything?
  • Where can I go for help?

Those moments of uncertainty create friction during enrollment and can increase the need for support. That insight shaped many of the investments we’ve made this year. Rather than focusing only on handling more volume, we’ve focused on helping employees feel more confident throughout the enrollment journey.

Investing across the entire enrollment experience

Preparing for annual enrollment requires more than strengthening one area of the business. It means improving the entire experience.

Our clients don’t judge annual enrollment by the effort behind it. They judge it by the experience employees have and the confidence they feel throughout the process. That’s why our investments this year have been centered on removing friction, reducing uncertainty, and helping employees make informed decisions with confidence.

The goal is simple: help employees understand their options, make informed decisions, and quickly get support when they need it.

Several of our product and experience enhancements were designed specifically to address common sources of employee confusion. Our teams reviewed real enrollment interactions, identified recurring questions, and focused improvements on the moments that matter most. From clearer guidance and confirmation experiences to improvements that help employees better understand what happens next, we’re working to reduce uncertainty before it becomes frustration.

Building readiness beyond technology

Technology is critical, but successful annual enrollment depends on people, too.

The most successful enrollment seasons aren’t built during enrollment. They’re built through months of preparation, coordination, testing, and continuous improvement long before employees make their first election. We’ve expanded readiness efforts to ensure teams are prepared not only for higher volume, but also for the complexity and variety of questions employees bring during enrollment.

We’ve also continued evolving our advocate model to reduce transfers and help employees resolve issues faster. By equipping advocates with broader expertise and better tools, we’re creating a more seamless support experience during some of the most important benefits decisions employees make all year.

Putting AI to work where it matters

Artificial intelligence is also playing an important role in our readiness efforts.

We are applying AI where it can make a meaningful difference: Helping teams access knowledge faster, improving consistency, and reducing delays when employees need answers. When used thoughtfully, AI helps us deliver a more responsive experience while allowing our teams to focus on the moments where human expertise matters most.

It’s about using technology to remove friction, improve consistency, and allow our teams to focus where they add the most value.

Preparing with a mindset of anticipation

One theme connects all of our readiness efforts: Anticipation.

Every enrollment season teaches us something new. We study what worked, identify opportunities to improve, and turn those insights into action for the year ahead. That discipline allows us to continually strengthen our processes, improve experiences, and better support our clients and their employees.

As we head into annual enrollment, we’re focused on more than readiness. We’re focused on delivering for our clients when it matters most.

Our responsibility is simple: anticipate needs, prepare with discipline, and execute with consistency.

The trust our clients place in us during annual enrollment is something we never take for granted.

Because when annual enrollment arrives, we’re all in.Â
